Freezing in Big Sky Country

Well, we've survived the first week in Dillon, Montana. We're here for James to do a 4-week rotation at the hospital and we've been wondering why we didn't get lucky enough to be assigned here during the summer. It is freezing!!! We're currently at the public library (no internet or phone at home), and the bank sign said it was 2 degrees outside--much better than yesterday, but still too cold for comfort. Our landlord said when he got up yesterday morning it was -24 degrees. And of course the wind always blows here, so I'm sure it felt much colder (I didn't dare go out with Ben until it warmed up to a balmy -4). Poor James had to walk back and forth from the hospital several times in the frigid temperatures.

Cold weather aside, Dillon is a cute little town and the people are really nice. We're staying in an apartment a few blocks from the hospital and Ben has had a lot of fun exploring a new place. I can't decide if I'm enjoying not having any responsibilities, or if I'm bored. It changes by the hour, I guess. It is pretty fun to just play with Ben all day.

This weekend we're off to Pocatello to visit James' parents and Ben and I are staying there the following week. We're excited to get some good Grandma and Grandpa time in.

I'll try to post some pictures next week while we're in Pocatello. We have some good ones of Ben bundled up playing in the snow, and of his black eye (he fell face-first off the couch last week).

Whoa, that sounds like quite the wintery experience. Are you stocked with milk and hot chocolate mix? Good thing the grandparents are nearby . . . Keep us posted on your adventures in snowland. I bet James is so happy to have you there.

Oh! Stay bundled up! Ben doesn't have too much fat to keep him warm and neither do you! Good luck in Big Sky country! We're missing you and are excited to hear updates from your interesting adventure there.
