1. The visit I made to Utah with the kids (my first long road trip with 2 kids without James)

Finally meeting little Madeleine, my best friend Natalie's daughter. The last time we saw Natalie was 2 days before Madeleine was born. They were in Utah visiting a few weeks ago, so we decided to drive down to meet them. We had a great day at Natalie's parents' house.
Our dear friend Audrey came, too. It was so fun to see Audrey and Sam giggling at each other.
I love these women! Really, it was like a breath of fresh air to see them.
2. The pumpkin patch and preparing for Halloween
It was freezing, but we loved the hayride out to pick our own pumpkins. Actually, I'm not sure that Sam loved it, but he's usually a good sport.

My fire dog and fireman. Ben wanted to wear his Halloween costume on a run the other morning and Sam needed to be bundled up anyway, so we dressed him up, too.
3. Getting to see Laura, Zachary, and Jason at least once a week.
Ben and Zachary LOVE each other. They were playing a nice duet here.
4. James completing a half-marathon yesterday.
We watched James at the starting line of the "Prison Break" half-marathon yesterday. He finished 8th overall and 2nd in his age group. Sorry to this lady in front of James in the picture--I don't know her, but I'm sure she would hate this photo.

That last shot of Ben about to throw leaves is awesome--I love the expression in his face and little Sam in the background far from the leaf-fling scene.
This makes me miss you. And congrats to James--even with an injury he did SO well. that's awesome. You are on the ball with all the Halloween stuff. We haven't even been to the pumpkin patch and Jack's costume isn't finished and Halloween is this week. It'll be busy.

I love this post. I remember the first time I went to my mom's without Jeff. . . and it was so liberating :) I felt like I could do anything if I could travel alone with the girls.

I love the costumes, what a cute firemen and doggie...:) fall is so much fun, we have to go play in the leaves this week, they are everywhere!
Your kids are so cute!! We miss you guys. It has been way too long. Sam is looking so big!
