We FINALLY hiked Cascade Pass! We have been wanting to do this hike for 4 years and the stars finally aligned for us--James had a Saturday off, the weather was fabulous, and we had nothing else going on. So, we made the 3-hour drive to North Cascades National Park. We were only slowed down a little bit by the lady who rear-ended us and then sped away as we were getting off the freeway (we were determined that nothing would wreck our day). We really had a great day.

This is the view from the parking lot at the trailhead.
James & Ben ready to go. Ben really loves riding in this backpack. It's a pretty comfy ride. He loved pointing out logs, snow, mountains, and rocks. He even learned a new word: "glacier."
All of the sights and fresh air wore Ben out. He took a snooze for a few minutes and missed the amazing view at the top (although we didn't complain about that).
This was our destination. Beautiful!

On our way back down.Ben survived 7.4 miles and almost 3 1/2 hours (straight) in the backpack. And he never even had a meltdown. He is getting so mature! It was a great day. Now James starts a new rotation with a busy call schedule and no weekends off. It was nice while it lasted.

Laura showed me your blog- Ben is adorable. I cannot believe that you took him hiking you are amazing, I am still nervous to take my baby in the car :)
I am glad you didn't let the rear-ending ruin your day--are you guys and your car alright? Hope so.
What a beautiful hike!!

You guys are so ambitious!
Bea-u-tiful! That's amazing. Carpe deum.
Really pretty pictures. I wanted to find out about your hike but I don't think we could have done that one with all 3! Maybe in a few years.
Wow! You three are such troopers! I can't believe you got rear ended. People suck. Now, who packed Ben for 3 1/2 hours? That's pretty amazing. Packing Ilee always hurts my back, so I do as much until I'm dying and then pass her on to Nathan. There is NO way I could pack a kid that long! You guys rock! Thanks for the beautiful pictures. I'm sure a really nice camera had to have taken those =)
